Grandpa visit

Next we dropped Gammie off at the airport and picked up Grandpa. We were so lucky to get to spend 2 weeks with him. He was amazing for the long night feedings. He loved staying home with you while I took your brother on his usual activities. He quickly became part of our family cooking dinners and playing games. It didn't hurt that he babysit a lot of nights and let mommy and daddy go out alone either.

Gammie visit

We were lucky that Gammie stayed for a week and took care of your brother so daddy could help mommy at the hospital for the next 2 days. When it was time to go home it was so helpful to have Gammie doing the cooking, laundry, and lots of playing with your brother so we could focus on taking care of you. She even stayed up with you at night to feed you and give you baths in between working on a project for your room.

Birth story

I was scheduled for a C section Friday May 3rd at 7AM, but you had other plans. I woke up in the middle of the night around 2:45 on May 2nd to go to the bathroom, but this time my water broke. I woke Rob up and told him we had to get ready to go. At this point we both scrambled to find someone to watch your sleeping brother. I called our neighbor babysitter a few times, but couldn't wake her up. Rob called another neighbor friend Matt and he came over right away. We also called Gammie to see if she could change her flight to get in earlier. She changed her flight a few hours earlier and ran out the door to catch her now 6AM flight.

We grabbed our bag and headed to the hospital even though when I called them they said to take our time. When we got there and got set up in a room no one was moving very fast and said the OR team would be in for the morning shortly. Then the doctor came in to check me and I was already having painful contractions and dilated so they picked up the speed and called the OR team in early. It wasn't long after that we were getting set up in the OR and prepped for surgery. Everything was ready to go and you were born at 5AM. We got to see you over the curtain for a minute and hear you cry before you went to be cleaned up on the side of the room. You were brought over to us and they told us you weighed 9 pounds 13 ounces and were 21.25 inches long. We couldn't get over how big you were and got to hold and kiss you for a few minutes before you went to be fed and checked out by the doctors. My surgery was finished and then we went to our room to see you.

Rob went home so Matt could get ready for school. He came back with big brother who got to meet you and hold you and even feed you. We all hung out in the room for a few hours getting to know you. Then it was time for Rob and RJ to go get Gammie at the airport. After that Gammie came to the hospital to meet you while Rob and RJ went to nap.
